Florida’s own “Silver Bullet” S-10 pickup takes-off...
In 2002, Matt from Panama City, Florida, was still working on the retrofitting phase of his turbo V8-powered S-10 pickup. Still a prototype at the time, Matt himself had commented that even without the Turbonetics unit, the truck, all motor, still ran good for not yet having any form of forced induction.
One of the first steps that Matt took in building the ’83 S-10 was installing a dependable set of braided fuel lines. These, according to Matt, were bought from Earl’s, while a B & M tranny and converter install would shortly follow.
Matt installed a B & M 3500 stall converter to help the V8-powered mini truck launch hard off-the-jump, while the exhaust was retrofitted, along with the air-to-air intercooler. Matt also decided to boost his power gains with a NOS setup, and soon a Turbonetics, T76 turbo.
With this truck, deemed by Matt as the “Silver Bullet,” what we see is a platform that’s based on a much older concept, successfully modified for current fuel and other applications.
